The First Step is Admitting the Problem …

Jim and Mud

I’ve thought long and hard about this, and I feel I must make a confession to you: I have an addiction. I’ve been in denial for many years, but I’m finally ready to come forward and speak out, in the hope that sharing my experience will benefit others.

My family claims my addiction robs us of quality time. I’ll admit, I’ve tried to share the habit with them, but somehow they’ve managed to resist. They just don’t know what they’re missing!

Unfortunately, the craving even hits me when I’m driving. I cruise down the road, calm and collected — until I come to a bridge. Before I know it, I’m swerving to the shoulder; I lose control of my faculties and give in to the addiction.

But truth be told, I don’t want to break this habit. I’ve been addicted ever since I splashed in that first creek when I was a boy. I just don’t know how to live any other way. And, after all, being an AQUA-holic does have its rewards!

Until next time,

Jim
