“Recycling” Sports Equipment for a Good Cause

AE’s Lake Operations Manager, Evan Carpenter, and Jessica Lenderman, IFS’s Director of Mobilization, prepare to unload balls and bikes.Aquascape Environmental today donated dozens of soccer balls, basketballs, Frisbees, bikes and other sports equipment recovered from Metro Atlanta lakes and ponds. The equipment was delivered to the International Sports Federation (ISF) office in Acworth, Georgia. ISF will distribute the items at African orphanages on an upcoming sports-related mission trip.

Aquascape Environmental technicians retrieve all types of balls and other sports equipment from clients’ lakes and ponds in the course of routine maintenance. Items that are in usable condition are stored for donation to youth programs rather than being discarded to take up space in landfills. Over the past 15 years, the company has donated hundreds of items to various programs.

ISF, this year’s selected recipient, is a non-profit organization dedicated to using sports to build relationships in cross-cultural settings. Past recipients of Aquascape Environmental’s “recycled” sports equipment have included The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta, the Devereux Georgia Treatment Network in Kennesaw, the Greenbriar Children’s Center in Savannah and the Global Gear Drive.
